Meet in the middle.
Not on the map.

Halfway gets you to your friends without ever revealing where either of you are. Just a walking time, one turn at a time — until you find each other, halfway.

How it works

Finding a friend, without the surveillance

Most location apps show everyone exactly where you are, all the time. Halfway flips that: you earn each other's location by walking toward it.

01

Pick a friend

Your contacts, your rules. See only a walking time — "Sam is 12 minutes away" — never a pin on a map. Each friend chooses what you can see of them.

02

Walk, one turn at a time

Tap to navigate and get exactly one instruction: "Turn left onto Park Road." The route reveals itself only as far as you can already see.

03

Meet halfway

They can walk toward you too. Your routes converge naturally, and when you're steps apart — a little celebration. You found each other.

Built different

Privacy isn't a setting. It's the architecture.

Halfway was designed so that trusting us isn't required — our servers physically can't see where you are.

End-to-end encrypted

Locations travel peer-to-peer, sealed with keys that exist only on your devices. Not us, not anyone in between — only your friend can decrypt them.

One step at a time

No destination pin, no full route preview. You get the next turn and a live ETA — the meeting place reveals itself as you walk.

You control who finds you

Per-friend permissions: ask first, always find me, show when nearby, or hidden. Flip on ghost mode to disappear entirely, any time.

No profiles to build

Halfway uses your phone's contacts for names and photos. No usernames, no bios, no social graph for anyone to mine.

Meet-in-the-middle magic

When you both start walking, your routes converge on their own. No awkward "where exactly are you?" texts — you just meet, halfway.

Share for exactly as long as needed

Location sharing is bounded to the meetup and stops the moment you find each other. Nothing runs in the background afterward.

Radically honest

What our servers can — and can't — see

We designed Halfway so the answer to "do you track me?" is provable, not promised.

What we store

  • Hashed phone numbers — irreversible, never plaintext
  • Public keys — safe to share by design
  • Push tokens — so a friend's request can reach you

What we never see

  • Your GPS coordinates — encrypted device-to-device
  • Your routes or where you met anyone
  • Your contact list — it never leaves your phone
